Mango on sticky rice

Posted by wealthy08 on August 30, 2008

Mango on sticky riceis a traditional summer dessert because mangoes are in season during the summer months of April and May. When I think of mango on sticky rice, I think of the days when school is out–the carefree summer

2 Servings

1 mango, peeled Make the coconut milk and sticky rice below. Peel and slice ripe mango. Place sticky rice on a small plate and top with mango. Spoon the coconut milk on top of the mango and sticy rice.

Coconut Milk Sticky Rice – Kow Neuw Moon

Sticky Rice is a core ingredient of thai desserts and northeastern thai food. Here’s how you make it easily.

2 tablespoons sugar

1 cup sticky rice

2 pinches salt

1 cup coconut milk

The Traditional Method Using a Steamer:
Soak the sticky rice in enough water to cover the rice for at least an hour and even overnight. Take your steamer, put water in the bottom and cover the steam section with cheese cloth or muslin cloth. Pour the sticky rice on the cheesecloth, cover with the lid and put it on the stove on medium to high heat. The sticky rice should take about a 20 minutes of steaming to cook and will become translucent when done.

The Microwave Method:
I learned this method from my friend who has mastered microwave cooking to such a high level of proficiency that she has earned the title ‘the microwave queen’. Soak the sticky rice for 10 minutes in warm water in a bowl. Soaking the rice is very important. I have tried this method without soaking the rice first and it was disastrous. The rice was undercooked and inedible. The water level should be just above the rice, which comes out to be 1 cup of rice and a little over 1 cup of water (about 10% more). I recommend using a non-plastic container because you may melt the plastic in the microwave. Cover the bowl with a dish and cook in microwave for at full power 3 minutes. Stir the rice around to move the rice from the top to the bottom. You will notice that some of the rice is translucent or cooked and some still has white center or the uncooked portion. Heat it up again for another 3 minutes. Check and see if it is done. When cooked, all the rice should be translucent. If it needs more cooking, I recommend heating up and checking every 3 minutes or so. How long it takes to cook really depends on your microwave.

Putting it together:
Heat the coconut milk in a pot over medium heat. Stir constantly and let the coconut milk simmer. Hard boiled coconut milk will curdle. Add sugar and salt. Remove from heat. Pour 3/4 of the hot coconut milk over the hot sticky rice. Let it sit for 5 minutes. The sticky rice will absorb all the coconut milk. The rice should be a little mushy. Spoon the rest of the coconut milk on top of the rice at serving time.

What is Webkiz?

Posted by wealthy08 on August 12, 2008

Webkinz are stuffed animals that were originally released by the Ganz company on April 29, 2005. The toys are similar to many other small plush toys. However, each Webkinz toy has an attached tag with a unique “Secret Code” printed on it that allows access to the “Webkinz World” website. On Webkinz World, the Secret Code allows the user to own a virtual version of the pet for virtual interaction.
There are also smaller, less expensive versions of the toys called Lil’ Kinz. In June 2008, Webkinz opened its own eStore, where users can buy virtual items such as furniture and virtual pets.

Kindle Wireless Reading Device

Posted by wealthy08 on August 6, 2008

Introducing Kindle™ Three years ago, we set out to design and build an entirely new class of device—a convenient, portable reading device with the ability to wirelessly download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers. The result is Amazon Kindle. We designed Kindle to provide an exceptional reading experience. Thanks to electronic paper, a revolutionary new display technology, you’ll find reading Kindle’s screen is as sharp and natural as reading ink on paper—and nothing like the strain and glare of a computer screen. Kindle is also easy on the fingertips. It never becomes hot, and is designed for ambidextrous use so both “lefties” and “righties” can read comfortably at any angle for long periods of time. We wanted Kindle to be completely mobile and simple to use for everyone, so we made it wireless. No PC and no syncing needed. Using the same 3G network as advanced cell phones, we deliver your content using our own wireless delivery system, Amazon Whispernet. Unlike WiFi, you’ll never need to locate a hotspot. There are no confusing service plans, yearly contracts, or monthly wireless bills—we take care of the hassles so you can just read. With Whispernet, you can be anywhere, think of a book, and get it in one minute. Similarly, your content automatically comes to you, wherever you are. Newspaper subscriptions are delivered wirelessly each morning. Most magazines arrive before they hit newsstands. Haven’t read the book for tomorrow night’s book club? Get it in a minute. Finished your book in the airport? Download the sequel while you board the plane. Whether you’re in the mood for something serious or hilarious, lighthearted or studious, Kindle delivers your spontaneous reading choices on demand. We’re very proud to introduce Kindle and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. – The Amazon Kindle Team

Customer Reviews

kindle4
Very useful product, easy to read. I agree with the button issues that have been endlessly stressed in previous reviews.

Kindle5
I have only recently received the Kindle and am quite pleased with it. I especially like the ability to adjust type size, since I am at the age where small print is not comfortable. The print and background is highly legible. The Kindle size, weight and controls are well designed. Thaddeus Bell

Kindle vs. Sony’s Reader5
I have owned the first generation Sony Reader since last December, and read over twenty books on it, and just recently purchased the Kindle. While the Kindle is not perfect, it is superior to the Sony Reader in several meaningful ways that make it a far superior choice: 1) the number of books available for purchase for the Kindle is as least triple the number available from Sony. I haven’t subcribed to any magazines or newspapers on the Kindle, but the book selection alone is reason enough in my opinion to choose the Kindle over the Reader. 2) The screen contrast is better on the Kindle, so reading is easier. 3) The Kindle has six font sizes to choose from instead of three sizes on the Reader. 4) Changing pages is easier on the Kindle due to larger lever bars on both sides of the screen, instead of smaller buttons, and the Kindle seems ato change pages a little faster. 5) The Kindle can hold over double the number of books in its internal memory. 6) Buying books is far easier; they are transferred directly to the Kindle without having to be downloaded first to a computer. I do like Sony’s cover/device holder better than Kindle’s and when I bought my Sony a couple of days after last Christmas, the net price after an included $50 book allowance was only $170. So Sony’s price was a lot lower, although the price difference now is minimal. Neither product does a very good job with pictures, and neither one has color. I liked the Sony, but bought the Kindle because the greater selection of books was important to me. The other advantages I’ve mentioned confirm for me that the Kindle is a far better product.

Kindle เครื่องอ่าน e-Book

Posted by wealthy08 on August 3, 2008
